nights, WANT-WCOR changes gears and gets “in the groove” with Fantastic
Fred. Fred Anthony Burton originally started his radio show in the 1970s
on WCOR, and after taking more than a decade off, returned to the
air on both WANT and WCOR in the late 1990s. Fantastic Fred
plays a mix of Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Disco, rock and roll and even some
modern hip-hop, spanning several decades of music. His nostalgic DJ style
and heavy reliance on listener request have created a fan base of all age
groups, and from all over the mid-state area. No other radio show provides
audiences with the kind of music variety and live Saturday night atmosphere
found on the Fantastic Fred show.
